The University of Pittsburgh’s star running back James Conner has announced via Twitter that after months of battle, and 12 Chemotherapy sessions, he is now Cancer free.
The 2014 ACC Player of the year was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma last thanksgiving after doctors found tumors on Conner’s neck and chest. Conner had already missed the majority of last season after tearing a ligament in his right knee during the team’s season opener.
“Over the past six months, James Conner fought cancer the same way he plays football: relentlessly and without surrender. He has inspired and touched so many people in how he has handled this challenge. James is an incredibly special person, and I’m not even thinking about football ability when I say that. Everyone at Pitt feels blessed to know him and we are tremendously thankful for the wonderful news he received today.” Said Head Coach Pat Narduzzi in an official statement.
Conner planned on returning to the Panthers football team once he returned to good health.
Glory to God allowing me to get through these 12 schedule chemo treatments.. Been a long road, Results coming soon!
